St. Charles Parish is asking for information about “gasoline dumping” in the stormwater along Courville street in Luling.
Parish and emergency responders had to flush and vacuum the gasoline, as well as issue a Nov. 13 “shelter-in-place” alert for area residents.
Clean-up costs were estimated at $3,500.
“We are asking anyone with information about this dumping to come forward because taxpayers will be footing the bill for this,” said parish Risk Manager Monique Granier. “It’s important for people to know that it is illegal to dump anything that is not stormwater into storm drains.”
Anyone with information should call the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-6807.
