Murder suspects arrested in Boutte

Two brothers charged with the Raceland murder of two men on Saturday were found and arrested in Boutte this weekend.

Kerry Alexander, 34, and Jerrell Alexander, 28, both of Raceland, have each been charged with two counts of first degree murder after allegedly being behind the shootings of 26-yard-old Marcel Turner of Thibodaux and 23-year-old Jeremiah Ballard of Raceland.

St. Charles Parish deputies worked with Lafourche Parish detectives to locate and arrest the two men at a restaurant in the Boutte area. Police reportedly found a bag outside the restaurant containing two handguns and camouflage masks.

The shootings occurred at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Markey St. in Raceland. Turner was found in the garage of a residence and pronounced dead on the scene. Ballard passed away from his injuries after being taken to a Raceland hospital.

The Alexander brothers are also charged with Attempted First Degree Murder in the incident, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, as a third victim was able to escape.

Through investigation, detectives learned two suspects entered the garage wearing all black clothing and camouflage masks, according to the Sheriff’s Office. They were brandishing firearms and demanded money. In a matter of seconds, one of the suspects began firing at the men, striking Turner and Ballard, while the third victim was able to escape.
