Motorcyclist killed in Hahnville wreck

A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed in Hahnville on Saturday after he struck a car and was ejected.

Jonathan Dascher, of Lacombe, was riding his 2014 Harley Davidson north on La. 3127 when the motorcycle crossed the center lane of the highway for unknown reasons and entered the southbound lane, according to state police. Norman Samuel, 84, was driving a Chevrolet Colorado south and tried to avoid the motorcycle, but was unable to do so.

Dascher’s Harley struck the front left fender of the Colorado, which forced his ejection from the motorcycle. Dascher, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to St. Charles Parish Hospital where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Samuel was wearing a seat belt and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol use is unknown at this time, but toxicology tests are pending for Dascher. Blood was also taken from Samuel.
