Many important issues to carry over from ‘07 into ‘08

2007 has been an exciting year in St. Charles Parish and the Herald-Guide has decided to use this issue as a means to look back at some of the stories that had the most impact on our readers this year.

Inside this issue we have ranked our Top 25 stories  of the year, along with the date the articles ran and a little information about each one. The parish is filled with both interesting people and interesting topics that combine to really set us apart from the rest of the nation.

And while 2007 was certainly a big year, 2008 promises to eclipse it.

2008 will usher in a completely new parish government, headed by V.J. St. Pierre as Parish President. Joining him in serving the residents of the parish will be nine new faces on the parish council.

St. Pierre and the council will have their work cut out for them.

Many of the issues, such as hurricane protection, drainage, water system upgrades, zoning and video gaming will continue to make a mark on our community during the upcoming year. It will be up to St. Pierre and the council to make the right decisions for our parish’s future.

As far as the Herald-Guide is concerned, residents can look forward to plenty of interesting features, special sections and human interest stories.

We look forward to the year ahead and hope that 2008 does its best to live up to the expectations.
