Man who fought off attackers arrested on sex charge

A Boutte man who fought off four home invaders last week has been arrested for having inappropriate sexual contact with a 16-year-old female, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Joseph Reed, 42, who currently resides in Boutte but gave police an address in Beaumont, Texas, drove into Jefferson Parish on Oct. 14 and picked up a young girl that he knew only as “Chocolate.” He brought Chocolate back to his home, where authorities say he had inappropriate sexual contact with her.

When they were finished, Reed says he brought Chocolate to a gas station on Williams Boulevard in Kenner and dropped her off with two of her friends.

After returning home and going to sleep, Reed says he awoke to find four men inside his home pointing a shotgun at him and demanding money. Reed was able to subdue one of the men, and gave authorities a vehicle description that led to four more arrests.
