Alleged victims both under age of 10, one related to suspect
A 54-year-old Destrehan man was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of aggravated rape. The alleged victims are both under the age of 10–one is related to the man and the other was a family friend.
The man’s name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victims.
The first victim, who is 7 years old, disclosed the rape to a family member who then contacted the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to Capt. Pat Yoes.
After an investigation and interviews, a second victim, who is 8 years old and is related to the suspect, was discovered, Yoes said.
He added that the alleged rapes occurred inside the Destrehan man’s home.
The grand jury also indicted the man on a two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile for showing pornography and his genitals to the victims.
