Man charged with pulling gun, throwing knife

A 56-year-old Des Allemands man was arrested and booked with aggravated assault after authorities say he pointed a shotgun at another man and also tried to throw a knife at him.

Bradley Cortez, of 243 Tregle Lane, had gotten into an argument with the victim when he brandished a shotgun, pointed at the man and pulled the trigger, Capt. Pat Yoes, Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said.

The weapon wasn’t loaded, and after hearing a “click” the victim tried to take the shotgun from Cortez.

“That’s when Cortez took a knife out of his pants pocket and threw it at the victim,” Yoes said.

The knife missed its mark and the victim called the Sheriff’s Office. Cortez was arrested last week.
