Man charged with bilking Destrehan home owner

A Destrehan man was arrested after authorities say he received more than $10,000 to perform home renovations and then failed to perform any work.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Albert R. Buras, 49, of 48 Bocage Drive, entered into a contract in February with a fellow Destrehan resident for home renovations.

The victim said he paid Buras $10,215.62, and as of Oct. 29, no work had been done to the residence.

The victim also said he discovered that a lien had been placed on his home because of materials and supplies that were ordered by Buras for the renovations, but were never paid for.

Buras was arrested on Oct. 29 and is being charged with contractor’s misapplication of payments.
