Recent evidence leads to arrest
A 28-year-old man was arrested after he was accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl almost three years ago.
The man’s name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
The alleged victim recently told a friend about the incident, which occurred between 2012 and 2013, and that friend contacted the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“We do know of one instance [where the suspect had sex with the girl],” Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said. “We are unsure how many times it happened or if it happened more than once. We are looking into that now.”
The man was charged with aggravated rape.
