Lutcher man booked for attempted manslaughter in the parish

Jilted ex-husband fires at new boyfriend

In a domestic dispute gone wrong, a Lutcher man became enraged at the sight of his ex-wife speaking with another man. Coty Foreman, 24, 2403 N. Central St., Lutcher, then fired a gun at his estranged wife’s boyfriend’s car.Apparently, this is not the first time that Foreman and his wife have had problems. As the marriage deteriorated, Coty’s wife had placed a protective order against her former spouse.

According St. Charles Sheriff’s Office reports, Foreman’s ex-wife was working at a bank on River Rd. in Destrehan.

“She was talking with her boyfriend at the bank (in the drive thru), when Foreman pulled into the middle lane of the drive thru. Foreman began staring at them. He then reached down underneath his seat for something,” said Cpt. Patrick Yoes.

She then asked Foreman to leave, so that he would not cause a scene, said police reports. After his ex-wife asked him to leave, Foreman pulled out of the drive thru and traveled southbound along St. Charles St.

After speaking with Foreman’s ex-wife, the boyfriend left the drive thru, and he noticed that Foreman was following him. As the boyfriend was driving, “He saw Coty get out his vehicle. At which time, he heard a loud pop and something hit his vehicle,” said Yoes.

When the boyfriend got home, he noticed a bullet hole in his rear door.

No one was injured in incident. Later, Foreman was apprehended by St. Charles deputies, arrested and booked accordingly. He was charged with attempted manslaughter and violation of protective order.

As of Friday, Foreman’s bond was set at $175,000 by Judge Chaisson. He was released on June 29 by posting $17,530.
