Luling mother says child was abused at daycare, posts videos

Footage posted by Stephanie Kidd on Thursday.

A Luling mother’s Facebook post saying her son suffered neglect and abuse at his daycare center, which included surveillance video of the incident, was shared nearly 600 times and received thousands of views as of Thursday afternoon.

“I have videos of my son being drug (by the owner Lori Bercegeay) down the hall from non-stop crying, with his fractured foot due to lack of eyes on the children,” said Stephanie Kidd via Facebook. “The St. Charles juvenile division told us there was nothing they could do because apparently they see it as he was walking down the hall.”

Bercegeay is the owner of Special Angels Outreach daycare center in Luling. Two videos showed her appear to pull Kidd’s son Carson, 2, by his arm down the hall, his legs dragging along the floor.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office released a statement later Tuesday noting they received the complaint regarding the Jan. 13 incident four days later. According to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. James Grimaldi, detectives reviewed several videos taken from security cameras installed inside the daycare and spoke with employees and Bercegeay during the investigation.

Grimaldi said the Sheriff’s Office turned over their findings to the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Education for further review, as well as St. Charles Parish’s District Attorney’s Office.

“Both the Department of Children and Family Services, and the Department of Education are government run agencies that are responsible for investigating and governing daycares throughout the State of Louisiana,” said Grimaldi.
