Luling man killed in car crash

A single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 90 in Luling resulted in the death of the driver on Sunday.

Randall Kotz, 56, of Luling, was traveling westbound when his 2004 Ford Explorer struck the median, swerved back right and ran off the road. The vehicle flipped and ejected the driver, according to Louisiana State Police.

Kotz was transported to St. Charles Hospital and then transferred to the Interim LSU Level 1 Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.

According to State Police, speed was a factor in the crash while lack of a seat belt contributed to Kotz’s death.  Impairment is unknown and pending an autopsy.
