Luling man charged with raping ex-girlfriend

A Luling man has been arrested after authorities say he forced his way into the home of an ex-girlfriend and raped her before falling asleep in her home.

Ricky Bruce, 36, of 111 Warren Drive in Luling was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. last Sunday and booked with aggravated rape and aggravated burglary.

The victim had seen Bruce sneaking around her residence in the past and authorities believe that he had been watching her, Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said.

“He eventually came up and knocked on the door and when she answered he forced his way inside by breaking the chain on the door,” LaGrange said. “He assaulted her and then fell asleep after.”

The victim told police that when Bruce fell asleep, she made her way to a neighbor’s home where she called police.

“When we arrived, Bruce was still sleeping and we were able to apprehend him without further incident,” LaGrange said.

LaGrange said that Bruce had a previous arrest for violating a restraining order and that all victims who have restraining orders against others need to let authorities know as soon as they notice something suspicious.

“It’s best to let us know as soon as possible because you never know how what someone is capable of,” he said.
