Luling jewelry store robbed, Sheriff’s Office asking for information

An unknown amount of jewelry and other items were stolen from an apparent break-in of a Luling gift store Thursday.

At 7:10 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 27), St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a store alarm at The Basketry on U.S. Highway 90, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange.

Pieces of jewelry were found on the ground at the store entrance, LaGrange said. Shattered glass from a broken front door and store case near and inside the building also were reported.

LaGrange said they are working with store owners to secure video surveillance footage and questioning employees on what they might have seen earlier in the day.

The robbery is under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the robbery to call (985) 783-6807.
