Local ‘House Hunters’ needed for reality TV show

Cable television’s popular home and garden network, HGTV, could be headed to St. Charles Parish in search of homebuyers to feature in their No. 1 ranked series “House Hunters.”

Real estate giant Coldwell Banker National recommended Luling’s TEC Realtors to HGTV as a perspective choice for an upcoming episode.

“As of right now, we may or may not be chosen to participate,” said branch manager April Freese-Templet. “Our agents and buyers must fill out an application, and their home search and closing will need to be between October and November.”

“House Hunters” takes viewers behind the scenes as individuals, couples and families  search for a new home with the assistance of a realtor.

Each broadcast features three properties, one of which is selected by the perspective buyer, whose offer generally is accepted by the seller.

In the final moments of the show, the new owner provides a tour of the house, revealing if any changes and/or improvements were made.

“We are looking for people who are thinking about buying a home and who are ready  to go through with the process now,” Freese-Templet said. “Potential buyers also need to be prequalified and we can help them with that.”

To apply as a potential buyer for “House Hunters,” contact Freese-Templet at 985-785-0900 or visit TEC Realtors at 12439 Highway 90, Suite B in Luling.

Freese-Templet says that, if chosen, filming for the show could take up to three days. Ten metro-area Coldwell Banker offices are eligible to participate.
