Caleb Frey hired as news editor covering schools, police, coastal and wetlands issues, more
Last summer, St. Charles Parish resident Heather R. Breaux joined the staff at the Herald-Guide as a rookie reporter fresh out of college – and eight months later – she is working her way to the top and has been named Lifestyles and Sports Editor.
And another new editor has joined the team, Caleb Frey has been hired as news editor and will be covering schools, police and coastal wetlands issues.
For most people, a few months on the job may not seem like enough time to work your way up to a promotion, but Breaux says that with hard work anything is possible.
“I attended Southeastern Louisiana University for five years and received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and journalism,” says Breaux.
“But there is no classroom like the real world and the Herald-Guide has given me the opportunity to learn and grow in a hands-on environment.
“I freelanced as a university reporter in college and had a series of articles published in a local paper, but the Herald-Guide was my first shot at the real thing.”
