For its extensive coverage of local news, the St. Charles Herald-Guide received the Best News Coverage award by the Louisiana Press Association on Saturday.

The award was one of 17 won by the newspaper in Division 6, which is the largest division in the state with 25 weekly newspapers.

The Herald-Guide placed second in several categories, including Best Lifestyles Coverage, Best Overall Sports Coverage, Best Ad Campaign and General Excellence. General Excellence is judged on both editorial and advertising content.

Former Lifestyles Editor Michelle Stuckey won third place for Best Feature Story and second place for Best Story Generated by a Public Notice.
