Applications for the 06-07 St. Charles Parish Head Start and Preschool program are now available.
Applications will be mailed upon request or can be picked up at the Parish School Board Office in Luling. Applications are also available on the district’s web site at www.stcharles.k12.la.us. Applications may be obtained at these sites on the east bank: Norco k-3, East Bank Head Start Center, New Sarpy Kindergarten Center and St. Rose Elementary. On the west bank, applications are available at AA Songy Kinder garten Center, Allemands and Luling Elementary Schools, and Carver Early Learning Center.
The Head Start and Preshool Program is for 4 year olds. Eligibility for Head Start is determined according to federal income guidelines issued by the Administration for Children, Youth, and Families as well as children who have documented special needs and/or disabilities.
This program accommodates children parish wide. East Bank classes are held at the center on the campus of Harry Hurst Middle School on River Road in Destrehan. West Bank classes are held at the GW Carver Early Learning Center located at 337 Gum Street in Hahnville. Preschool classes are held at six elementary school sites.
Applicants for all 4 year old preschool classes must be 4 years of age by September 30, 2006. Family income information and a copy of the child’s birth certificate, social security card, proof of residency and immunization record must accompany the application.
