Garbage truck overturns on Old Spanish Trail

This garbage truck got stuck in mud on the side of the roadway, causing it to flip on its side. It took Jake’s Towing four hours to tow the vehicle away.

A garbage truck overturned near Griffin Street on Old Spanish Trail after getting sucked in by mud on the side of the road.

Clint Jacob, of Jake’s Towing (which recovered the vehicle), said that as a car was coming towards the garbage truck, the truck driver moved over to the side of the road to allow the car room to pass. When he did so, the mud sucked in the vehicle’s right side, causing it to overturn.

“The mud was real nasty and it caused a lot of difficulty when we were getting the truck out,” Jacob said. “The mud was so deep and mushy that the right side mirror that landed in the mud didn’t even crack.”

No one was injured in the one-vehicle wreck and it took workers four hours to remove the garbage truck.
