Friday’s early morning shooting in St. Rose under investigation

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a death that occurred on Pine Lane in St. Rose.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on January 29, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call from a male stating he discovered his 38-year-old girlfriend inside of their residence with an apparent gunshot wound.

EMS and deputies arrived at the scene and attempted life saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

During the initial the statement on scene, the boyfriend claimed that he and his girlfriend were arguing in the residence. Allegedly the girlfriend then walked into another room and the boyfriend subsequently heard a gunshot. According to the statement, the boyfriend located his girlfriend and saw a gunshot wound to her head.

Detectives are currently interviewing the live-in boyfriend, as well as neighbors, to determine what occurred. Currently all facts indicate that this is an isolated incident and that there are no perceivable threats to the public.
