Direct deposit for child support

BATON ROUGE- The Department of Social Services (DSS) is now offering child support clients two new options in receiving payments.

“These new payment methods are a cost-effective and expeditious way to serve the children of Louisiana,” said DSS Secretary Ann Williamson.

Effective immediately, custodial parents who have bank accounts can apply for direct deposit. Direct deposit allows DSS’ Support Enforcement Services (SES) to deposit child support payments directly into the customer’s existing checking or savings account, regardless of financial institution.

Clients may receive a direct deposit form by downloading from DSS website at www.dss.la.us, by calling the Child Support Customer Service Center at (255) 922-8100 or (800) 256-4650 or by picking up a form the District Attorney’s Office.

Child support recipients who were victims of the Hurricane Katrina impacted area will soon be receiving a direct payment form from JP Morgan/Chase Bank.

Customers must activate the card before child support payments can be deposited. Questions about the direct deposit card directed to JP Morgan/Chase Customers Service at (866) 775-5927.
