Destrehan man arrested in New Year’s Day shooting

Charged with attempted homicide

After allegedly shooting a man on New Year’s Day, Jackorey Williams turned himself in to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.

Williams, 19, a resident of Destrehan, allegedly shot a man on Meadows Drive in Destrehan around 1:22 a.m. Jan. 1, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“They had a previous dispute in the past, though we’re not sure what the reason for it was,” said St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes. “They saw each other earlier that evening and there was no confrontation.But later that evening, as (Williams) walked by the subject, he shot at him.”

The victim was taken to St. Charles Hospital where he was reported in stable condition.
