Des Allemands woman burned down neighbor’s home, police say

A Des Allemands woman was so upset after getting into a fight with her neighbors that she took a can of gasoline, poured it under their home and lit it on fire, according to police.

The home was completely destroyed in the blaze.

Jessica Bryan, 27, of 3942 Highway 90 East, admitted to setting the fire at around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 3, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. Multiple volunteer fire departments worked to extinguish the blaze, but the damage from the fire resulted in a total loss. After speaking to witnesses on the scene, deputies began to suspect that the fire was set intentionally.

Detectives met with a representative of the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office who indicated that the fire had started in the rear of the trailer. Investigators discovered that the homeowners had gotten into a fight with Bryan, their neighbor, at a separate location.

Police say that Bryan arrived back home before her neighbors, poured gas under the trailer and ignited the fuel with a lighter.

When questioned about the fire, Bryan admitted her involvement, police say. She is being charged with simple arson of an inhabited dwelling and is currently being held under a $100,000 bond.
