Des Allemands man arrested in connection to several thefts around parish

33-year-old Des Allemands resident Kyle David Cowart was arrested for multiple charges connected to several thefts throughout St. Charles Parish over the months of June and July. 

On June 6, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, in the 15000 block of Old Spanish Trail in Paradis, two four-wheelers, three welding machines, and tools were reported taken from a barn. Cowart is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft, and illegal possession of stolen things, related to this incident. 

On June 13, in the 200 block of Tiger Drive in Boutte, the chains and lock were broken, and a laptop and power cord were taken from a storage container. Cowart is charged with criminal trespass and simple burglary in relation to this.  

On June 20, in the 13000 block of River Road in Luling, three money bags were removed from a video poker machine. Video obtained shows Cowart prying open the machine, removing the bags of money, and placing them in the front of his pants. Cowart is charged with theft.  

On June 22, in the 12000 block of Highway 90 in Luling, a video obtained shows Cowart disconnecting a surveillance camera at a business on the same night that a unit was burglarized, Greg Champagne Sheriff and property was taken. Cowart is charged with criminal trespass and unauthorized entry of a place of business. Also on June 22, in the 500 block of East Heather Drive in Luling, a video obtained shows Cowart again tampering with surveillance cameras on the same night that tools were taken. Cowart is charged with theft and criminal trespass.  

On July 6, in the 10000 block of Airline Highway in St. Rose, two oxygen tanks, an acetylene tank, and parts for a Bobcat were reported stolen. Cowart is charged with Simple Burglary. Also on July 6, in the 10000 block of Airline Highway in St. Rose, a white Ford F-250 was taken. The business in the previous incident and this incident shares a storage yard. Cowart is charged with illegal possession of stolen things, possession of firearm/carry concealed weapon by convicted felon, and theft of a motor vehicle.  

On July 7, in the 14000 block of Old Spanish Trail in Boutte, a landowner observed a subject in a white Ford pickup, he identified as Cowart, trespassing on his property. Cowart was charged with enter/remain after being forbidden.  

Through investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered, and detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants, signed by 29th Judicial District Court Judges, on all above mentioned charges for Cowart.  

On July 7, while conducting a wanted person check in the 700 block of Ayo Lane in Paradis, deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office were met by Cowart.  

Deputies had prior knowledge of a warrant for Cowart, and he was arrested. During a search incidental to arrest, deputies located narcotics in Cowart’s left pants pocket. Cowart is charged with possession of methamphetamine. Cowart is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center with no bond.
