Couple charged with rape of 6-year-old

Allegedly had multiple encounters with the child

A mother and her husband residing on the West Bank of St. Charles Parish were recently arrested on allegations the two sexually abused the woman’s six-year-old daughter.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, detectives learned the child’s mother and stepfather had inappropriate sexual encounters with the child on multiple occasions over the past year.

The male has been charged with two counts of aggravated rape, three counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, false imprisonment, child desertion, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile involving a felony, crimes against nature involving a subject under the age of 18 and performing sexually immoral acts.

The victim’s mother has been charged with aggravated rape, three counts of principal to indecent behavior with a juvenile, crimes against nature involving a subject under the age of 18, performing sexually immoral acts, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile involving a felony, child desertion, false imprisonment and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in presence of subject under age of 17.

The two are being held in Nelson Coleman Correctional Center with a court arraignment set for Dec. 6.

The Herald-Guide has chosen to not identify the suspects in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim.
