Churches offer more chances to strengthen bond with Christ

With Easter fast approaching, churches across St. Charles Parish will give their followers more opportunities to strengthen their relationships with Jesus this weekend.

From Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday, churches are offering extra services, special events and other Christ-centered activities for their flocks.

Many Catholic Churches will offer Way of the Cross this week, as well as an Easter Vigil in which newcomers into the church will be welcomed.

Other Christian churches will host special events, such as the multi-church Sunrise Services taking place on Mississippi River levees this Sunday.

The following churches will offer additional service times or special events this weekend:

St. Charles United Methodist Church in Destrehan

Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.

Good Friday service at noon

Easter Sunday – Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. on the levee across from Ormond Plantation in Destrehan with breakfast following in the Fellowship Hall; 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services at Church Sanctuary

First Baptist Church of St. Rose

The Lord’s Supper service on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Good Friday service at 6 p.m.

Easter Resurrection service on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Paradis

Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. with the Eucharist

Good Friday Liturgy at noon

Easter Day Festival Eucharist at 10 a.m. Sunday, followed by reception and Easter egg hunt

St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan

Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m.; Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues until 10 p.m.

Good Friday Celebration of the Lord’s Passion with Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion at 3 p.m.; Men of Manresa Living Way of the Cross at 7 p.m.

Holy Saturday Easter Vigil at 8 p.m.

Easter Sunday services at 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. (No 6 p.m. Mass)
