… three New Sarpy men left wounded

St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place on Meadows Drive in Destrehan, Sunday night.

Three New Sarpy men were shot while driving down Meadows drive. According to witnesses, the three were part of a 10-vehicle caravan driving recklessly and carrying occupants that wore bandanas, brandished guns and played loud music Witnesses told police that bystanders and pedestrians had to run to avoid being struck by the caravan.

Champagne said the caravan drove down Meadows in an apparent attempt to aggravate certain residents.

“Deputies were called, we went to Meadows, received information about the caravan and we cleared the scene,” he continued.

“After everything calmed down, some time later the caravan came back doing the same thing, then some unknown person opened fire from between the houses and struck three occupants in the one truck.”

Champagne said the drivers of the vehicle fled the scene and had a car accident in New Sarpy where deputies discovered them in the car, three of the men had been shot.

Dorian Thompson, 19, had a gun shot wound to the calf, Tremaine Thomas 17, had a gun shot wound in his left arm, and two wounds in his upper back, and Davon Wells had three gun shot wounds in his lower back.

“We have received the nickname of a suspect out of New Orleans who happened to be on Meadows that day and are trying to establish his identity,” Sheriff Greg Champagne, told the Herald-Guide.

No one claimed to see the shooter on Meadows.

“We have no evidence as to motive other than the shooter being aggravated by the way the other group was driving down Meadows.” Certainly, this was insufficient reason for someone to open fire,” he continued.
