Taking nominations until Dec. 16 to inspect, fix safety issues on a vehicle at no charge
As we approach the heart of the holiday season, Today’s Car Care is looking to spread a little holiday cheer to a lucky recipient.
Galen Guidry, the owner of Today’s Car Care, said the store is accepting nominations for someone in need through noon Dec. 16, with the winning person being rewarded with an inspection and car care service addressing a safety need, both free of charge.
“We are offering to help fix mechanical problems or give them a free set of tires, depending on what the safety need is,” Guidry said. “Our main concern is giving their car a thorough safety inspection and deciding where to help with repairs from there.”
Guidry said the motivation came from a desire to help during a time of year many are financially stressed.
“I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, and this time of year seemed most appropriate with it being the holidays,” Guidry said. “Many families often struggle during this time and if we can help relieve some of that stress we would love to.”
He said he strongly believes in the idea people should “pay it forward” as much as they can.
“Occasionally we see people that truly cannot afford to do even basic repairs, but they need to get to work and support their families,” Guidry said. “We wanted to figure out a way to directly impact someone’s life in our community. We thought using our skills and expertise, particularly, to do so would be unique.”
The deadline for nominating someone is Dec. 16 at noon. The store will call the winner personally first, then will announce the winner on its Facebook page Dec. 19.
“We will then coordinate with them a good time to start evaluating the car and decide upon the appropriate repairs,” Guidry said.
“We sometimes have people come in that have lost jobs, or have major medical bills, and can’t afford to repair their cars,” he added. “We strive to help them as best as we can, but it is also a business so we are sometimes limited in how much we can help. We feel very fortunate to have the business that we have, so we feel it’s so important to pay it forward to others in our community.”
