Getgo Business Solutions expands operation in new location

Art and Artis Kelm are not in the art business, in spite of their names. They sell and service computers and associated products from their new location on U. S. 90 in Boutte. They started Getgo Business Solutions in 1991 not far down the highway in Luling. Since then, they have moved to Mozella and then to another location in Luling before buying the larger office building they occupy at present from McClendon Realty.

Now known as Getgo Gator Systems, they have expanded their operation to include television, stereo and home theatre sales, installation and service.

And since Hurricane Katrina, their business has skyrocketed, says Art. This is due to the fact that they are the only company in St. Charles Parish that provides such sales and services out of an office. Others do it from their homes.

Before Katrina, their business had declined because Art had a health problem. A kidney transplant solved that, however, and allowed them to take on more customers and add services, he says.

They now offer installation and servicing of security cameras which allows business owners to monitor their places of business from their homes. They also put in telephone PBX systems.

“We have big and small customers,” Art says. Most are from St. Charles but there are some from New Orleans and Houma areas. “I even have one in Alaska,” he adds. They service some hospitals and government agencies as well as privately owned businesses and residents.

Getgo is a member of St. Charles Business Association and the St. Charles Networking Group.

Before starting the business, Art did computer work for Waterford 3 nuclear plant for 10 years.
