The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for the owners of lawn equipment that may have been stolen on the East Bank over the past three months.
Several lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers and generators that were allegedly stolen by a theft ring that operated in the Norco and Destrehan areas have been recovered from pawns shops located in Jefferson and St. John Parishes.
“We’ve contacted area residents who reported having these types of items stolen to let them know whether or not we’ve recovered their property,” said Capt. Pat Yoes, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office.
“Other residents who didn’t file reports for stolen property will need to provide our office with a detailed description of the item and be prepared to provide proof of ownership.”
Yoes says that receipts or warranty information with serial numbers are helpful in identifying the owner of a specific item, along with knowing any unique or identifiable marks that can be seen on the equipment.
Two brothers, Jerome D. Sentimore, of 60 Mary St. in Norco, and Detriel D. Sentimore, of 2000 N. Sugar Ridge Dr. in LaPlace, were arrested in connection with the theft ring, both being charged with relative to theft under $300 for two gas-powered trimmers that were stolen from Norco and Destrehan.
Both men were arrested on warrants that were issued on June 25. Detriel, 23, was also arrested on June 22 for allegedly pawning a pressure washer that was reported stolen from a Norco residence.
“As of right now, these are the only two arrests that have been made regarding the theft ring,” Yoes said. “We were able to recover most of these items from tips and leg work performed by our detectives.”
Yoes encourages anyone who has had lawn equipment stolen recently to contact Detective Jody Fahrig at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
