Boutte man indicted on murder charge

Accused of killing ex’s boyfriend

A 35-year-old Boutte man was indicted by a grand jury on charges stemming from a fatal bar shooting that left one man dead and another injured.

The shooting occurred on Dec. 26 at 12:30 a.m. at Butt Cuts Bar, located on Joe Louis Lane in Hahnville. When St. Charles Parish sheriff’s deputies arrived at the bar they found 23-year-old David Scott, of Houston, Texas, lying dead on the dance floor with multiple gunshot wounds.

Scott’s girlfriend told police that she and Scott went to the bar and ran into Larry Thompson, her ex-boyfriend.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Thompson and Scott got into an argument and Thompson allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Scott in the chest and back.

A bystander was shot in the foot and was treated and released from St. Charles Parish Hospital.

Thompson fled the bar and was tracked down at a Kenner apartment complex. He remains in jail under a $500,000 bond for second-degree murder and aggravated battery.
