Boutte man charged with kidnapping woman, 3-year-old

A Boutte man has been charged with simple kidnapping after police say he grabbed a woman and her child and forced them into his car.

Ryan Matis, 31, of 164 Spruce St., allegedly confronted the woman and her 3-year-old in front of a New Sarpy home before forcing them into his car, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to the woman, Matis told her that he was going to kill them.

Matis was later located in Boutte with the two victims and was arrested without incident, authorities said.

Matis was a relative of the victim’s family and the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, according to Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
