Boutte man accused of stalking, exposing himself

Man charged with obscenity, stalking

A Boutte man was arrested last week and charged with exposing himself to a female acquaintance.

Shawn Simms, 29, of 316 Woodland Dr. in Boutte, faces charges of stalking and obscenity after allegedly following the victim and exposing his private parts to her, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred Jan. 20. Simms was arrested the next day.

According to St. Charles Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Patrick Yoes, the victim met Simms for the first time four months before the incident. When the victim noticed Simms approaching her at her Boutte home at the time of the incident, she allegedly told him to leave her alone.

“(Simms) advised that he had something for her, at which time he exposed himself,” Yoes said. “He continued to follow her and knocked on her door, at which time she called the Sheriff’s Office.”

Simms was released from prison Jan. 22 by posting a $1,530 cash bond.
