Baton Rouge man impersonated cop, police say

A 39-year-old Baton Rouge man was arrested after authorities say he pretended to be a policeman while assisting a driver with a flat tire on Airline Highway in Destrehan.

James Abram, of 2100 College Drive, was booked with impersonating a public official, carrying illegal weapons and the illegal tint of a window.

According to authorities, Abram attracted the attention of a passing deputy by having blue lights activated in his vehicle while he was pulled off the roadway. Abram was dressed in a dark blue uniform and was wearing black combat boots.

He had apparently pulled over to assist a driver whose vehicle had a flat tire.

According to Capt. Pat Yoes, Sheriff’s Office spokesman, Abram allegedly implied to officers that he worked for another police agency, but could not locate his official commission.

Yoes added that Abram had previously been arrested for impersonating a police officer and had other arrests on his record.
