Arsonist hits Norco fire station

Investigator says building was not being used and fire wasn’t electrical

A blaze intentionally set by an arsonist left the Norco fire substation severely damaged and in need of repair. And the volunteer firefighters forced to put out the blaze want information from residents to help arson investigators solve the crime.

Lance Lamarca, an arson investigator, says he knows the fire was intentionally set.

“According to the fire chief, the building was not being used because of construction that was taking place,” he said. “There was construction going on and the roads were closed to where the fire trucks couldn’t get in.”

Lamarca says there were no utilities turned on in the building and no other reason a fire could have started from some internal electrical problem.
“The investigation is still ongoing and at this point we don’t have any leads,” he said.
