Luling’s Bailey Picou charged with accessory to negligent homicide

A second teen, Bailey Picou, 17, of Luling, has been arrested and charged with accessory to negligent homicide in connection with Monday’s fatal wreck in Hahnville.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Picou’s arrest along with Fredrick L. Jackson, 17, of 2321 Jena St. in New Orleans, who was identified as the driver of the vehicle in the accident that resulted in the death of Bailee Winters of Hahnville, also 17 years old, on River Park Road.

Jackson and Picou are both accused of fleeing the scene before police arrived, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Picou was an occupant in the vehicle.

Jackson has been charged with negligent homicide and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Winters was found partially ejected from the overturned vehicle around 2 a.m. Monday. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

As of Friday, Jackson was being held on $50,000 bond at Nelson Coleman Correctional Center, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Picou was arrested Tuesday, made bond and was released.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Patrick Yoes said no additional arrests are anticipated, according to media reports.
