A 42-year-old Hahnville man was arrested after 75 marijuana plants were discovered in his home, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Spokesman Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange said that authorities received a call from a person that said Christopher Brandon, of 319 St. Charles Place, was growing pot plants in his home.
“The caller went into a lot of detail and gave us a lot of good information,” LaGrange said. “When we searched (Brandon’s) premises we discovered the plants.”
LaGrange said the plants were all between seven to nine inches high and were located in several different areas of the home. Christopher made no real attempt to hide the plants, LaGrange added, saying most of them were in plain view.
“You couldn’t see them when you opened up the door, but once you walked in, they were easy to spot,” he said.
Officers also located assorted equipment used to cultivate marijuana, such as lights and fans, and a .25 caliber handgun.
“It’s safe to say that with the amount of plants we recovered in the home (Brandon) was contemplating making a significant amount of money on the street,” LaGrange said.
Brandon was charged with the possession and manufacture/distribution of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and use of a firearm with a controlled substance.
