36-year-old Ama man found dead after apparent shooting

A 36-year-old Ama man’s life was claimed Sunday night as result of an apparent shooting near his home.

Darnell Ingram of Ama was found dead inside of a crashed silver colored Mercedes-Benz by police responding to a 911 call that reported gunshots heard on Vidal Street. The car crashed on a grassy median between Vidal St. and Triche St., according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. James Grimaldi said detectives have determined Ingram to be the victim of a shooting just prior to the crash. The shooting was said to have occurred just before 9 p.m.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked by the Sheriff’s Office to contact Crime Stoppers at (504) 822-1111 or Detective Kevin Tennison at either (985) 783-1135 or (985) 783-6807.
