3 ‘dope sweeps’ land 4 in the hoosegow, say lawmen

It was a busy two days for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office as deputies managed to get more than two pounds of marijuana and four suspected drug dealers off the streets.

Louis W. Parent, 61, 148 Kennedy St., St Rose, was arrested after officers executed a search warrant at his residence where cops say they found 105.4 grams of marijuana, 28 doses of methadone, 13 doses of Loratab, 118 doses of carisoprodol (Soma) along with a digital safe, scales and $9,541.29 in cash.

Louis was charged with four counts of possession with intent to distribute for all the illegal drugs in his residence and vehicle as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of illegal use of a controlled substance in the presence of juveniles.

Less than a week later, officers executed another search warrant at a Destrehan residence uncovering more than a pound of marijuana.

Steven Fischer, 18, 204 Dunleith Dr. was arrested May 22 after officers searched his residence and found approximately 593 grams of marijuana, $1,835 in cash, plastic sandwich bags and two scales. Fischer was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers executed a third search warrant that week at a Luling residence uncovering approximately one pound of marijuana, weapons and the drug ecstasy. Marcus L. Mott, 27 and Marcel R. Myles, 19, both of 1120 Kinler St. were arrested after officers searched their residence and also found 27 pills of ecstasy, a .380 caliber handgun, a digital scale and $524 in cash.
