$250 million Valero pipeline complete

Will transport 110,000 barrels of oil per day

A $250 million pipeline that delivers gas and diesel from Valero St. Charles Refinery in Norco to a Kinder Morgan terminal in Collins, Miss. has been completed.

Around 12 miles of the 141-mile pipeline travel through St. Charles, according to Allen Fore, a spokesman for Kinder Morgan. The pipeline follows Airline Highway to Cedar Drive and then detours to the Spillway Levee until it reaches Lake Pontchartrain.

The Parkway Pipeline, which is a joint venture between Valero and Kinder Morgan, has an initial capacity of 110,000 barrels per day. Its construction also generated 1,200 temporary jobs at its peak.

“We are pleased to have completed the construction of Parkway on schedule with the help of good local working environments in both Louisiana and Mississippi,” Ron McClain, president of KMP Products Pipelines, said. “This is an exciting project that provides greater connectivity between Gulf Coast refineries and East Coast markets with new pipeline infrastructure while also increasing local property tax revenues by almost $6 million.”
