2 shot to death in Des Allemands

Authorities call deaths murder/suicide

Two people are dead in what police are calling a murder/suicide that took place in Des Allemands on Monday night.

Deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a homicide call at 9:30 p.m. on Meyers Lane where they found the body of a 25-year-old woman who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head and chest, according to authorities.

Officers identified the woman as Santana Marshall and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told police that 39-year-old Curry Lewis, of Hahnville, had shown up at Marshall’s residence and ordered her out of her vehicle at gunpoint as soon as she pulled into the driveway.

Police say that Lewis shot Marshall two times before fleeing in her vehicle.

Marshall and Lewis had dated in the past but were broken up, according to Capt. Pat Yoes, a St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

After fleeing the scene, Lewis contacted a family member and said that he had just killed Marshall and was going to kill himself, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A short time later, officers located Lewis in Marshall’s vehicle on Levee Road in Des Allemands. Lewis was found with what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds under his chin and possibly three shots to the body.

The body wounds were all located in the chest area, Yoes said.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the second suspected murder/suicide in St. Charles this year. In January, Carroll Charles Jr. allegedly shot his wife, Fenisha Charles, in their home before turning the gun on himself.

The two bodies were discovered lying on a bedroom floor by the couple’s 15-year-old daughter.
