What to wear to the prom?

Hahnville High’s SADD Club students model what’s hot for the event

Hahnville High School juniors and seniors traded in their T-shirts and jeans for tuxedos and evening gowns and then hit the runway for the school’s 2007 Annual Prom Fashion Show.

The event, sponsored by the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club, is organized each year to give students the skinny on what type of clothing is appropriate to wear to the prom.

“We started planning the show in November,” says Courtney Johnson, HHS faculty member. “And all juniors and seniors had the chance to participate in the event.”

Arm in arm, couples took the stage and were introduced to the audience by student host Darrin Post.

The male models posed in tuxedos from After Hours Formal Wear in Kenner and the girls sashayed in gowns from All Eyes On You boutique in Metairie.

“Proceeds from the fashion show help to fund a trip to the SADD National Conference in New Orleans for all club members,” says Johnson.

“And After Hours Formal Wear will donate $5 to the school for every HHS student tuxedo rental.”

Students participating were: Tyler Wilson, Solange Smith, Marcus Campbell, Sherelle Bowser, Sidney Turner, Daneric Anderson, Aaron Pierre, Chelsea Lumar, Shaine Boyle, Stephania Lee, Tristan Sorapuru, Nadia Cox, Randy Jacobs, Miami Boyd, Jerome McKenzie, Danielle Douglas, Cornell James, Keira Davis, Britney Sylvain, Macede Jackson, Monique Dunmiles, Nakia Major, Kenisha Meyer, Felicia Nixon, Ashley Gordon, Teneshia Brown, Ryan Meyer.
