VFW Post 3750 recently attended the Department of Louisiana’s 88th Annual Convention.
Members attending were Post Commander and Department Junior Vice Commander Bobby Lovergne, Senior Vice Commander Monty Parr, Quartermaster Merlin Edler, Surgeon Iven Naquin and State Sgt. at Arms Perry Muller.
During the weekend, the Post received the following recognitions: Buddy Poppy Increase Award, Voice of Democracy Award, Outstanding Community Service Award, Patriots Pen Award, 100 Percent Membership Award, Department’s Excellence Award for completing all ninePrograms for the 2018-19 VFW Year.
Lovergne received the Outstanding Participation Award for his work with the Citizenship Education Chairman for the department as well as being the department’s Teacher of Year Chairman.
Perry Muller and Lovergne also received the State Commanders Gold Awards During the Awards Banquet, Post 3750 was recognized as one of 12 All-State Posts for 2018-19. Lovergne and Quartermaster Edler both received All State hats and pins.
Lovergne moved one step closer to being the Department of Louisiana Commander by being elected as Senior Vice Commander for the 2019-20 VFW Year.
When elected at the 89th Convention, he will be the first Department Commander to come from St Charles Parish.
The 120th National VFW Convention was held in Orlando, Fla., during the last week in July. During the convention, West St Charles Post 3750 was honored to be recognized as one of the eight posts from Louisiana as All American Post, ranking them as one of the top posts in the organization.
West St Charles Post 3750 has a few big events coming.
On Sept. 14, it will sponsor a USO/Patriots Day Dance at the Hall. For tickets, call Ed Penick at (505) 201-2971.
On Nov. 10, the post will host the 1st Annual Veterans Day Golf Classic at Grand Ridge Golf Club.

Post meetings are held the last Monday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. All combat veterans are invited to join.
