Daniel Ward achieves Eagle Scout rank
Daniel Paul Ward of Luling recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts Troop 371.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America.
Daniel is he son of Paul Douglas and Caroline Frances Ward. He is the brother of Justin Floyd Ward.
Throughout his time as a scout, Daniel has held these positions: Quartermaster, Den Chief, Senior Patrol Leader, Asst. Senior Patrol Leader, Instructor and Patrol Leader.
For his Eagle project Daniel researched the maintenance needed to be done on the fire hydrants in the Ashton Plantation subdivision and on Gassen Street in Luling.
The hydrants needed to be made visible by cutting the grass, gaskets checked, oiled lubed and flushed. His project was accomplished on Dec. 20, 2008.
Other activities include helping neighbors and friends mow lawns and with repairs. He also helps at the Bible Center Church with vacation Bible study as well as volunteering at the Paradis Fire Department.
Daniel first began scouting on March 8, 3003 with 371. He has earned a total of 26 merit badges.
Daniel is a junior home-schooled student and plans to attend college with a possible career in firefighting.
