HHS sophomore selected to attend leadership seminar
Hahnville High School student Haley Morgan was recently selected to represent HHS at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership seminar to be held in the Baton Rouge area this summer. Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership, HOBY, is a world-wide organization dedicated to preparing our country’s high school Sophomores to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. Haley is an honor student involved in many extracurricular activities, as well as numerous projects in her church and community. She is the daughter of Charlene and Donald Morgan of Des Allemands.

Three place in MLK essay contest
HHS students Myka Taylor, Gabriel Fritz and Kayce Kinler earned the top three positions in the district-wide Martin Luther King Share the Dream Essay Contest. Myka received 1st place, Gabriel received 2nd place and Kayce received 3rd place.

St. Rose native reenlists in Army
Army Spec. Sheridan J. Smith has re-enlisted in the U.S. Army. Smith is a radar operator assigned to the 1st Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas. He has served in the military for three years. He is the son of Sheridan Smith of Riverview Drive in St. Rose. He graduated in 2005 from Destrehan High School.
