Chochy Lousteau, a 7th grade student at St. Charles Borromeo School in Destrehan, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee.
As the local winner, Chochy qualified to take a written test and up to 100 of the top scorers will be eligible to compete in the Louisiana Geographic Bee.
Other students who qualified to compete in the school-level bee were 4th graders Emma Lassalle, Ethan Headings, Katie Cannon, Nicholas Lacour, Morgan Rigby, Bryce Whittington, and Grace Galey; 5th graders Jordan Wright, Anaya Robinson, Molly Caluda, John Heraty, Justin Rigby, and Allison Zoglio; 6th graders Evan Thomason, Reese Clement, Dillon Deshotel, Grace Lacour, Gracie Johnson, and Austin Michael; 7th graders Emily Champagne, Allyson Colomb, and John Bulger; and 8th graders Zach Corzo and Elizabeth Gilmore.
Sacred Heart announces spelling bee winners
Sacred Heart School announced its Norco spelling bee winners: 7-8 grade division: 1st place Matthew Zeringue, 2nd place Patrick Girardot, 5-6 grade division: 1st place Mallory Brignac, 2nd place Joey Girardot.
The winners will go on to participate in Regional Spelling Bee on March 12 at Xavier University.
