Barbara Mollere Doucet, a former resident of Luling and a 1979 graduate of Hahnville High School was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Kinesiology/Human Movement Science from The University of Texas during commencement ceremonies on May 19th, 2007, in Austin, Texas. Dr. Doucet received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1984 and a Master of Health Science degree in Allied Health Education in 1996, both from LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans.

She has over 23 years of clinical experience working in healthcare settings, providing direct patient care to rehabilitation populations, and serving in management and administrative roles. After completing her Master’s degree, she began an academic teaching career. She has held faculty positions at several universities, including LSU Health Science Center, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Her research involves investigating methods that maximize motor function in the hand following stroke. She specifically studied the use of electrical stimulation techniques and how these can be used to facilitate post-stroke recovery.

She is the daughter of Archie and Barbara Mollere of Luling, and the wife of M. J. (Jodie) Doucet, also a former resident of Luling. She and her husband currently reside in Houston, Texas, and she plans to continue her career path in higher education while furthering her research pursuits.
