Altar server of the year

Vanderbill Jackson Jr. was named altar server of the year at Church of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Hahnville – pastored by Rev. Bernard C. Francis.

Jackson was honored by Archbishop Alfred Hughes during a ceremony held on April 24 at St. Rita Church in New Orleans.

The Ceremony was sponsored by the Sierra Clubs of Metropolitan New Orleans.

Arts scholarship awarded

Ashlyn Brooke Ervin was awarded a scholarship to the Mississippi School of the Arts located in Brookhaven, Miss.

She is the daughter of Shane and Lynell Dufrene-Ervin of Collins, the granddaughter of Lex and Tina Ervin of Collins, Carel and Elena Dufrene of Bayou Gauche and Rick and Diane Troxler-Wright of White Castle.
