United Way celebrates success

United Way of St. Charles announced at their Victory Celebration on Thursday, Feb. 25, they have reached 98.7 percent of their campaign goal of $2.2 million dollars.

“To date, United Way of St. Charles has raised a total of $2,170,519.  United Way expects to reach and exceed the goal of $2.2 million because funds are still coming in from last minute campaigns and designations from nationally held campaigns,” stated Travis Chiasson, UWSC Campaign Co-Chairman.

The Victory Celebration, held at Ormond Plantation, announced the success of United Way of St. Charles’ Annual Campaign and recognized companies with success in their workplace campaigns.

“United Way would like to thank all the local industry, businesses and individuals for their hard work in making this campaign a success and recognizing that it is through your hard work and dedication that St. Charles Parish is such a great place to live, work and raise a family.  You all should be very proud,” Andy Holm, UWSC Campaign Chairman, said as he addressed the audience of company leaders and campaign coordinators.

Companies such as OxyChem, Valero St. Charles Refinery, Motiva/Shell, Monsanto, Cytec, Entergy Waterford 3 and Dow received top honors for success in campaign improvement, employee per capita giving, corporate giving, percent participation and leadership giving.  Valero was awarded the highest honor receiving the UWSC Spirit Award, which recognizes the best overall United Way campaign.
