Miss Marcie Renee’ Stewart and Mr. Billy Brian Gothreaux were united in marriage on June 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, La. Dr. Tommy Middleton officiated the afternoon ceremony.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Country Club of Louisiana.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Alexander Stewart, Jr. of Luling, La. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ruby Emfinger and the late Mr. Dudley Emfinger of Franklin and Mrs. Elizabeth Stewart and the late Mr. Wayne Stewart of New Iberia.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernace Lynn Gothreaux of Eunice, Louisiana. He is the grandson of Mrs. Margie LaFleur and the late Mr. Daryl LaFleur of Kinder and Mrs. Emily Gothreaux and the late Mr. Vernace “Billy” Gothreaux of Welsh. The bride wore a one piece a-line white satin gown with matching cap sleeves and a corset back. A draped panel accented the waist at the side princess seam. The gown had ornate floral embroidery with beading on the bodice that cascaded down the side of the skirt, as well as the train. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, yellow and pink roses, cymbidium orchids, and flaming calla lilies. Kellie Curry, cousin of the bride, served as Maid of Honor, and Tralyn Hodson, cousin of the bride, served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Sheena Stewart, Lindsey Parker, Angie Rousel, and Jamie Booth. Aaron Gothreaux, brother of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Lynn King, Micah Stewart, Chad Rizzuta, Michael Loolara, and Ryan McNabb. The flower girl was Kelsie Cooley, and the ring bearer was Grant Emfinger. Taylor and Brandon Emfinger prepared the way for the bride by rolling out the white aisle runner. The bride is a graduate of Hahnville High School and Louisiana State University, where she earned a BS in elementary education, and from Southeastern Louisiana University, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Elementary Principal ship. She teaches first grade in the Livingston Parish School System. The groom is a graduate of Eunice High School and Louisiana State University with a BA and a Master of Arts degree in political science. He is a State Farm agent in Baton Rouge, La. Following their honeymoon trip to the Dominican Republic, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Gothreaux now reside in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana.
